5 Tips To Help You Choose The Best Reiki Training For You!

For upcoming Reiki Training through our spiritual centre, please go to meetup or facebook. Thank you!

1. The Reiki Master

It is important to assess the Reiki master who will be teaching you. Read your instructor’s credentials. Ask the following questions:

  • Do they have a Reiki practice? Do they have at least 3-5 years of experience?

  • Have they been working consistently with Reiki throughout the years?

  • Is their teaching style one that works for you?

  • Is the training long enough? (It should be at least 6-8 hours)

  • Is their reputation good?

  • Have they shared in their advertisement all that they will teach you? If so, does the information match up with what other Reiki Masters teach?

  • Are they a part of an association, alliance or organization? They don’t have to be and some amazing teachers aren’t. The benefit of being a member of an association, alliance or organization is that the teacher is normally held to a high standard.

  • Is the price fair? Most Reiki masters set their own prices and some barter. Prices normally range from $80-$200 for Reiki 1.

  • Do you feel drawn to work with them? This is the main question to ask and trust. Let your intuition guide you to who is optimal for you to work with.

NOTE. No teacher is perfect. Have respect, compassion and understanding when a Reiki Master offers to share with you their Reiki lineage. A lot goes into a training. A good Reiki Master will do their best, while humbly knowing that can’t give everyone everything they need all the time.

2. Manuals

I can’t tell you how many people have shared that they never received a manual or book with their training, and because they don’t have a good source to reference, they don’t remember a lot of the content covered during the training and are confused. It is important to have written material to reference later on as you continue to develop your proficiency with Reiki. If someone isn’t offering a manual or book suggestions, think twice about investing the money in their training.

3. Reiki Shares

Most established Reiki Masters offered regular Reiki shares. Why are Reiki shares important? They afford you safe spaces with guidance from your teacher to help you develop and also continue to heal yourself. Reiki shares are the main benefit after you have been trained. Shares also help you extend your circle of friends(your Reiki brothers and sisters). Many teachers don’t have a spaces set up to offer people a regular gathering place. And so, once they finish their training, their development is stunted or stagnates because there is no ongoing support and guidance. We offer Reiki shares at The Nexus Society for you that are by donation or $10 per gathering.

4. Ongoing Support/Accessibility

The Reiki Master should be accessible to you and personable so that you can ask him/her/they your questions. You WILL have questions, and the Reiki master will likely have the answers. Instead of staying within your own limiting understanding of things or confusing yourself with internet searches; it is important to have a Reiki Master you can reach out to. A reiki master is dedicated to those they initiate.  All students who learn from The Nexus Society will have the email and phone number of their Reiki Master.

5. Certificates

Is the Reiki Master a member of an association, alliance or organization to certify you through? If not, they should have a business or not-for-profit they can certify you through. Be suspect of training that offers no certificates or offers certificates without being connected to a legitimate business, center or organization.  Certificates should have the name of the Reiki Master, the date of the training, what the training was, your name and potentially the organization/alliance/business.

Below are some of the main things a Reiki Master should teach you in Reiki I and II. All of these are taught within the Reiki training through The Nexus Society. Our next Reiki I training is October 21st from 10:30 -5pm. Sign up by clicking HERE

Our Centre’s Reiki Master’s Credentials:
She has received training from three different people over the past 6 years. Her first training and attunement happened in Ukraine in 2012 by a psychic-medium of 30 years. Her second training happened in 2014  in Coquitlam, BC a registered CRA (Canadian Reiki Association) teacher in 2014. Her training and attunements continued with a Japanese Reiki Master in Burnaby in 2015 who lovingly took her on as a student for a few months. He gave her the first Reiki Master level and she took a second Reiki Master level again in Coquitlam by the same CRA Reiki teacher in 2018.  She’s learned a variety of different ways to work with Reiki from all of them, which she will teach you. She’s started her energy healing practice in 2010 and received energy healing training in 2009 for in a psychic psychic/medium/energy healing mentorship, in 2010 she also learned energy healing 101 from the CDM in Vancouver. She’s attended a multitude of healing circles, and Reiki shares throughout the years and has an extensive understanding of doing energy work from all her years of experience. Lastly, she is a licensed esthetician/spa therapist for over 10 years and has a holistic approach that includes working with your psychic senses, also known as the clairs.

What Is Mediumship? What Is The Different Between A Medium & A Psychic?

This post is to help the spiritual community understand the difference between a psychic reading and mediumship reading. It is all about the source of the information.

Medium is from the Latin word, medius, and means ‘the middle.’  A medium is one who receives messages from, and can communicate back with, spirits (those who were alive but have now passed on); they are a sort of mediator from spirits to humans.   Mediumship is a process of attuning one’s energy and mind to a receptive state of consciousness that permits an open channel for those in the Spirit World to communicate with the living, thereby allows for the demonstration of reading the spirit’s energy and communicating with it.  There must be a distinct spirit present who is giving information to the medium for mediumship to happen.  The source of the information is from the dead and the medium is a conduit between two worlds who is able to convey the messages. Mediumship generally involves three parts – the Sitter (the one having the medium read for them), the Medium (the one doing the reading), and Spirit (the out-of-body being communicating to the medium).

A psychic is someone who reads energy, such as life areas (work, love, home, family, health). The psychic does this from perceiving information from a person’s energy, their mind, chakras, aura, their environment, those connected to them or a divination. Psychics also read timelines, which are the energy essence of a situation past, present or future.  The source of information is from the living. However, the term psychic can be an umbrella phrase used for anyone who works with the paranormal.

Many psychics report feeling like the information is coming from them or they have to go get the information with a psychic reading and when doing a mediumship reading the information feels more as if it is coming at them. Most mediums are also psychic, but not all psychics are also mediums. I know this can be confusing. Seeing auras generally comes under a  psychic reading, but loved ones do sometimes show up in the aura as light sometimes, which would then put it on the lines of mediumship. Communicating with spirit guides is also generally seen as a psychic reading, but this can also fall under mediumship.

In summary, mediums are receptacles, they RECEIVE information from the deceased and relay the information, whereas psychic information is more so along the lines of PERCEIVING energetic information through the clairs.   A psychic-medium is someone who can read energy about the past, present and future, as well as communicate messages from the departed.

Are you a medium or a psychic? Are you interested in developing your abilities or finding out if you even have them? I offer mentorships and classes on both psychic development and mediumship. More can be found on the spiritual services page and mediumship-101 and mediumship-level-2.

Does being psychic ruin your TV (online streaming) viewing experience?

As a writer, it is a bit tricky watching and reading other writer’s stories. Also, as a psychic, I tend to know if it will be canceled and the plot, which makes for a boring experience.  As a younger woman, I used to be confused by how other people seemed to be oblivious to what was going to happen in the show and obsess about the next episode or how they’d get scared about something that is made up. It made zero sense to me at that younger age.  Anyway, I later realized it wasn’t that I was just observant, it was that I was simply perceptive to the energy of the program.  Are you like this, too?

Now, I intend to turn my energetic perceptivity down so that I can enjoy the show with someone. But, honestly, there is also just a plethora of poorly written shows available today that I won’t invest the time in. I’ve received numerous suggestions for shows to watch on Facebook and most of the shows I found boring. I still appreciated the suggestions, because I usually ask for suggestions when I have a course to write and would like something on in the background. However, there are currently only five shows I get excited about. 1. Agents of Shield. 2. 12 Monkeys. 3. Into The Badlands. 4. Sense8.  And for the 5th, it’s a toss between A Handmaid’s Tale and a new show, Altered Carbon. Don’t get me wrong; I like other current shows, such as Jessica Jones, Stranger Things, Agent Carter, Game Of Thrones, The OA, Mr. Robot, The Travelers and Billions. Have you noticed a theme? Basically, I like anything that has to do with manipulation of time and powers. I don’t like singing shows, dramas or comedies much. I also like therapy reality shows (Iyanla Fix My Life), competitions shows (Rupaul’s Drag Race and Project Runway) and mediumship shows (Hollywood Medium, Mom’s A Medium, Monica The Medium).

I pick shows differently than other people. I watch because I’ve seen them in a meditation or dreamt them in a dream. Into The Badlands just started its third season yesterday and I’m super excited to see what Sunny and Tilda will be up to this season. I was happy to see a new black female addition to the cast, too.

I picked this show because I saw it while reading for someone a year before it came out and then kept seeing it in a meditation vision a few months before it came out.  It was so clear in the vision. What I hope for in watching shows is to be transported, in a way, to a different world. I believe that many writers are channelers and are jumping their consciousness into other realities, then coming back and documenting what happened.  When I write, that is what it feels like for me. Writing is one of the most powerful meditations for me and I don’t think I could live optimally if I could never go into that sacred creative space of imagination where spiritual connectedness births numerous magical possibilities. Those of you who are creative know what I’m talking about.  When I watch certain shows that are also channeled works, I am transported and actually will feel like I’m in the character’s world observing as the writer has.  It’s an expansive and fulfilling experience that contributes to my life being whole. Also, I won’t always be able to tell the ending. When the story is channeled, a lot of the time,  it plays out for me in real life time, rather than a fixed outcome as with invented stories.  Channeled stories have multiple outcomes that shift and change and are quite interesting for me to observe.  I often will watch simultaneous stories playing out differently on the screen as I watch.  I remember telling a friend about a part in Firefly the movie ‘Serenity’, that I really liked. He watched the movie with me later on and at the end, I was confused…so was he. The part I remembered, wasn’t in the movie, it was an energetic impression from one of the possibilities.

For Agent’s of Shield, that just naturally happened, it wasn’t spiritually led. 12 Monkeys and a Handmaid’s Tale told to me clairaudiently out of the blue.  Sense8 came as a recommendation from a spiritual friend. And AlterCarbon was the same world I’d written about in another story. Just another part of the world. When I saw the trailer, I was like, hmm, this looks like Triet’s world.  I plan to finish writing Triet’s story this year.

I don’t know how people sustain their interest with shows without having the feeling of being transported and without beholding multiple simultaneous outcomes. But, that’s my life and I’ve stopped trying to explain it to other people. I accept that everyone has a different viewing experience. I just sit back and enjoy my experience!  The new shows I plan to watch this year are Lost In Space, Here & Now, Krypton and Atlanta. If you are willing – no judgment- to share a show you think is within my wheelhouse, feel free to comment.

Spiritual Tip:

  1. If you are having trouble perceiving too much of a show, just set the intention and give the request to your clairs to turn their sensitivity down so that you can watch the show without knowing too much too soon.

  2. If you are afraid of shows, visualize golden light surrounding the device you are watching on and state for all energy from the show to be kept in the show and not venture into your space or into your energy field.
